Pheromone-Infused 'Cougar Mints' Luring Men / Customers
RIVERSIDE, Ill., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- A new pheromone-infused breath mint tops the Promotionalproducts.org "Summer Hottest Sellers" list of trade show giveaways. "These mints have only been available for a couple of months and we can barely keep them in stock," says Tim Mercer, general manager of Promotionalproducts.org, which specializes in trade show giveaways. "Not only are the mints popular, but businesses that are looking for a giveaway at conventions in places like Las Vegas don't want to be outdone by their competitors, so there is a mad scramble to get the mints before a competitor at the same convention does. I have customers offering two to three times their value for the 'Cougar Mints' as they are calling them."
Pheromones are chemicals in humans that can trigger emotional -- often sexual -- responses from those who smell them. The science behind how pheromone mints work is still not conclusive, but the idea is that a woman enjoying a pheromone mint while talking to a man is essentially sending off nature's fertility signals. The male talking to a woman chewing a pheromone mint may find himself having strong feelings of longing for the woman, while not being conscious of where the feelings originate from. Essentially, the woman chewing a "Cougar Mint" is artificially simulating primitive animal attraction with her breath.
Currently, "Cougar Mints" are only available for women. The manufacturer of the product is working on developing synthetic Androstenol (the male pheromone) that can be used to make a male mint.
