P&F to Leverage SRS TruSurround HD Within Its Philips 4000, 5000 & 7000 Series HDTVs
A brilliant picture and high quality sound packed in a sleek design
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Combining the best picture and sound, P&F introduced the new 4000, 5000 and 7000 Eco FlatTV(TM) series today at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). To ensure what consumers hear is as brilliant as what they see, P&F has partnered with SRS Labs (Nasdaq: SRSL), the industry leader in surround sound, audio, and voice technologies, to incorporate SRS TruSurround HD((TM)), which produces a remarkable surround sound experience over built-in TV stereo speakers within various models of its Philips(®)-branded 4000, 5000 and 7000 series FlatTVs.

"Often manufacturers focus on the picture and not the sound quality, which is a disadvantage for consumers," said Todd Richardson, senior vice president of sales and marketing for P&F, the exclusive manufacturer and distributor for Philips televisions and home theater in the U.S. "SRS TruSurround HD allows us to blend the stunning picture quality of our HDTV lineup with the natural, high-quality SRS audio, and reward our customers with a complete multimedia experience. We are excited about working with SRS Labs and look forward to integrating their innovative sound solutions in even more Philips products in the future."
As a robust multichannel audio solution, SRS TruSurround HD provides Philips FlatTV owners with a remarkably enhanced listening experience by processing up to 6.1 audio channels for playback over the TV's built-in speakers. SRS' proprietary post-processing algorithms make it possible to optimize the audio playback, delivering deep, rich bass response, crystal clear dialog for better intelligibility of vocals, and definition control for maximum high-frequency clarity. When receiving multichannel content, TruSurround HD virtualizes the channels, creating "phantom" speakers that appear to extend all around the listener, producing an amazingly realistic and immersive surround sound experience. Meanwhile, mono or stereo content is seamlessly converted into an expansive three-dimensional sound field.
"SRS is thrilled to now have the opportunity to work with a dynamic, technology-oriented company like P&F, which has recognized that, more than ever before, users desire an uncompromised and immersive audio experience while watching TV," said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing for SRS Labs. " SRS TruSurround HD-equipped Philips-branded HDTVs will provide a uniquely powerful premium multimedia experience, while eliminating the hassles associated with wiring and setup of external speakers."
Reaffirming SRS' position as the de facto standard for FPTV audio, starting in Q2 2010, an assortment of SRS-equipped Philips 5000 & 7000 series HDTVs will be available for purchase at consumer electronic retail locations across North America, including Walmart, Best Buy and Target.
