Biggest Names from Sports, Broadcasting and Entertainment Join Forces to Help Lead Virtual Reality Leader - NextVR
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., May 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- NextVR, a technology company pioneering capture and delivery of live and on-demand virtual reality experiences, today announced the launch of their Advisory Board with three inaugural members who will provide strategic guidance to NextVR through their next phase of growth. Representing the worlds of entertainment, sports and broadcasting, the board will be chaired by Peter Guber, Founder and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment, who will also make a strategic capital investment. The board will also include Scott Teissler, formerly of Turner Broadcasting, and Doug Perlman, Founder and CEO of Sports Media Advisors.
After successfully working with numerous sports, news and entertainment groups including the NBA, the NHL, Fox Sports, NASCAR, the band Coldplay and more, NextVR is preparing for a stage of dramatic growth. These industry luminaries will provide strategic advice through NextVR's expansion as virtual reality becomes a mainstream consumer digital platform in 2015.

The Advisory Board members include:
- Peter Guber has a storied career in sports and entertainment. As Chairman and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment and former Chairman of Sony Entertainment, Guber's personal films have earned more than $3 billion worldwide and racked up 50 Academy Award nominations. Guber's sports resume incalso an owner and Chairman of Dick Clark Productions, the world's largest producer of televised live event ludes co-ownership of three professional sports teams: the Golden State Warriors of the NBA, the Los Angeles Dodgers of MLB and the Los Angeles Football Club of Major League Soccer. Guber is entertainment programming, which includes the Golden Globe Awards, the American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards and Miss America.
- Scott Teissler is former executive vice president, chief technology officer and chief digital strategy officer for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), a Time Warner company, that creates and programs branded news and entertainment on television and other platforms. He was instrumental in the formation of technology strategy and policy development for the network and represented TBS in all technology matters. Prior to TBS, Teissler was senior vice president of new media strategy and chief technology officer for CNN. He joined CNN in 1993 from the University of Chicago where he served as the vice provost for technology and the University's chief technology strategist.
- Doug Perlman is a veteran sports media executive and media rights expert. He held leadership roles with the National Hockey League and IMG before founding Sports Media Advisors, an advisory firm focused on the intersection of sports, television and digital platforms. Perlman has been named to the Sports Business Journal's "Forty Under Forty" three times, earning a spot in their Hall of Fame and has been recognized by The Sporting News as one of the most 100 Most Powerful People in Sports.
