Sciortino began his U-Haul career in January 1984 as a service person for the Tonawanda U-Haul Center (797-051), and shortly thereafter became a general manager (GM), holding that position at Greece U-Haul Center (797-071) and Transit Road U-Haul Center (797-069). In 1987, Sciortino was promoted to marketing area vice president (MAVP) for the former U-Haul Company of Buffalo Western New York (Co. 797, now U-Haul Co. of Lower Hudson Valley), rising to the presidency of that company a year later. In 1991, Sciortino left U-Haul but returned in July 2002 to hold a variety of positions, including GM of Transit Road U-Haul Center (799-069), shop manager of Buffalo RERS (238) and MCP for U-Haul Company of Western New York (799) and then U-Haul Company of Boston (837). Sciortino's proven leadership skills certainly will drive his team to success.
"Pete is a proven leader who truly understands our primary service objective. I look forward to seeing what he will do with his knowledge and determination while leading this company," exclaimed Area District Vice President (ADVP) Jon Hynes. "I'm very proud of what Pete has accomplished and look forward to working with him."
While in charge of U-Haul operations for Connecticut, Sciortino is looking forward to sharing knowledge with his team members. Sciortino explained that throughout his U-Haul career, he has had the opportunity to work with so many veteran team members that he truly has taken in a wealth of knowledge, and is looking forward to passing it on to team members who aspire to move up within the company. Sciortino will focus on increasing profits by increasing the amount of one-way and rotation truck transactions. He also plans on increasing truck sales and bringing up his storage occupancy. In assuming his role as president, Sciortino is most excited about the opportunity to work with a strong team to further the success of U-Haul Company of Connecticut.
"The way to increase profits within the company is making sure to always say 'Yes'," Sciortino explained. "I have always given 100 percent in everything I do, and I don't intend to stop now. I plan on using the 'Yes' attitude to take my team to success."
