Perkins® Restaurant and Bakery Announces Free Pancakes to benefit Give Kids The World on September 15, 2012
Fundraiser for Children with Life-Threatening Illnesses
KISSIMMEE, Fla., Sept. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Perkins Restaurant and Bakery invites guests to enjoy a free short stack of its delicious made-from-scratch buttermilk pancakes on September 15, 2012 in celebration of Give Kids The World Pancake Day. Throughout the day, guests dining at participating Perkins locations across the country can savor the complimentary pancakes, expertly prepared using Perkins legendary recipe created and perfected more than 50 years ago. In return, Perkins hopes guests will consider making a donation to Give Kids The World (GKTW), a Central Florida nonprofit resort that provides week-long, cost-free vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
"For more than two decades Perkins has supported GKTW through a national fundraising campaign," said Bob Winters, senior vice president at Perkins and GKTW liaison. "Our second annual free pancake offering reiterates our commitment to this outstanding organization."
As a longtime partner of GKTW, Perkins Restaurant and Bakery opened the Village's Gingerbread House Restaurant in 1990. Since that first day, the Gingerbread House has served more than 4 million complimentary meals to "wish" families staying at GKTW. Winters points out that, "none of this would be possible without the tireless efforts and dedication of our franchisees, employees, vendor partners and customers to whom we are extremely grateful."
"Give Kids The World Pancake Day at Perkins is a delicious way for Perkins guests to help create magical memories for GKTW families," said Pamela Landwirth, president, Give Kids The World. "Through the continued support of generous partners like Perkins and their guests, Give Kids The World is able to fulfill its mission of providing the happiness that inspires hope for children battling a life-threatening illness."
