National Handwriting Day is just a pen click away, arriving on January 23, 2011, which will be the culmination of this promotion. The "Heroes Worth Writing For" promotion has a dual purpose:
1) It celebrates the importance of handwriting. For children, learning how to write also helps teach them self-expression. For adults, even in a world brimming with technology, handwriting remains a primary and very personal communication tool.
2) It allows us to give back by recognizing and expressing our thanks to the U.S. troops who sacrifice their lives every day for our country.
Ilene Albert-Nelson, Director of Marketing of Pentel of America, states, "As a leading pen company, this is a great way for us to remind Americans about the significance, emotion, and engagement that can be enclosed within a hand-written letter. Our U.S. troops are definitely noteworthy individuals who deserve to receive our best wishes and thoughts as well as our thanks for their time, dedication and commitment."
Consumers can enter the "Heroes Worth Writing For" promotion by handwriting a letter expressing their appreciation to our troops and mailing it to: Pentel of America, 4000 E. Airport Dr., Suite C, Ontario, CA 91761. In honor of National Handwriting Day, only handwritten entries will be accepted. The Grand Prize is a $200 Visa Gift Card and $100 in Pentel products. Four runner-ups will receive a $50 Visa Gift Card and $25 in Pentel products. Official rules can be found at www.pentel.com.
Pentel's partner in this promotion is Operation Gratitude, a non-profit organization that annually sends more than 100,000 care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in harm's way.
