Pennsylvania Slot Machine Revenue Up 7.4% in September

HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported today on its web site that total revenue generated through the play of slot machines at Pennsylvania casinos during September rose 7.4% over the amount generated a year ago.

According to the report, September gross revenue at the 10 operating casinos was $200,148,304 from slot machine play, generating tax revenue to the Commonwealth of $108,732,491.  Gross revenue in September 2010 was $186,365,015.

In a comparison of just the nine casinos operating in September 2011 that were also open for the full month of September 2010, revenue was 1.9% higher this year.

Gross revenue for each of the casinos operating in September 2011 is as follows, with the percentage change reflected for those casinos that were operating in September of both years.  Note that the SugarHouse Casino did produce revenue in September of last year, but that figure encompasses only the first 8 days of its operation after opening.  Therefore, a percentage comparison would not be justified.  That comparison will begin next month when the October figures are released:

The average number of operating slot machines throughout Pennsylvania at the 10 casinos was 26,441 in September 2011 compared to 25,833 at the casinos in September 2010.
