Pennsylvania Lt. Governor Jim Cawley Announces Reappointment of Edward A. Mann as State Fire Commissioner
HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On behalf of Governor Tom Corbett, Lt. Governor Jim Cawley today announced Edward A. Mann has been reappointed as Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner. Mann has served in that capacity since July 2000.
"Ed has proven himself a capable and effective advocate for the fire service in Pennsylvania," Lt. Governor Cawley said. "Under his leadership, the Office of the State Fire Commissioner has received national and international recognition for his work to reduce line of duty deaths in Pennsylvania, and I expect he will continue those efforts."

Mann's extensive background in emergency services started with the Logan and Undine Fire companies in Bellefonte, Centre County in 1977. After serving in the U.S. Air Force as a Fire Protection Specialist, Mann worked for Senators J. Doyle Corman and Jake Corman as an executive assistant in the 34th Senatorial District.
He is currently the assistant chief and financial secretary for the East Derry Fire Company in Mifflin County. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), where he served as a member of the Board of Directors to the Volunteer and Career Officers Section. He is currently a member of the Volunteer and Career Officers and the Firefighter Safety Health and Survival Sections of the IAFC and is a member of the Eastern Division of the IAFC.
Mann serves on the Advisory Committee to the IAFC Firefighter Near-Miss Reporting Program and as the Honorary Chair of the Lehigh Valley Burn Foundations annual Spirit of Courage Award Program.
