Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and Partners to Host Public Meeting on Future of Brandywine Battlefield

HARRISBURG, Pa., May 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC), in cooperation with the Brandywine Battlefield Task Force, will host a public meeting on Thursday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Brandywine Battlefield Park, 1491 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford, to gather public input for the Brandywine Battlefield Preservation Plan.

The goal of the plan is to give the park a new, self-sustaining focus and determine the best way to use the historic site as it relates to the larger story of the 1777 Battle of Brandywine fought during the Revolutionary War.

The meeting will include a discussion of land conservation and public access.

Individuals interested in the long-term viability of Brandywine Battlefield Park and other public historic sites, as well as the protection of the surrounding cultural landscape, are encouraged to attend.

The mission of the Brandywine Battlefield Task Force is to preserve and promote the Brandywine Battlefield and its cultural landscapes by coordinating public and private partnerships for resource preservation and land protection, raising public awareness about its cultural resources, and coordinating interpretation of the battle and its cultural landscape.
