Pennsylvania Governor Wolf Signs Executive Order to Extend Deadline For Filing Objections to Nomination Petitions
HARRISBURG, Pa., March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Wolf has signed an Executive Order that extends the deadline by which objections to nomination petitions for the 2017 Municipal Primary Election may be filed with the courts and received by the Secretary of the Commonwealth and by the county boards of elections.
The executive order extends the deadline for objections to nomination petitions filed by candidates for nomination at the Municipal Primary Election filed with the Commonwealth Court and served on the Secretary of the Commonwealth, or filed with the courts of common pleas and served on the county boards of election, by one additional day for each business day that the office or court is closed. The order specifies the deadline will not be extended beyond 5 p.m. Thursday, March 16.
Tuesday's potentially severe snowstorm has caused the closure of the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg, PA, including the Department of State's Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation, and is likely to cause the closure of courts and county election offices across the commonwealth.
