Pennsylvania Governor Rendell Orders Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Sgt. Derek L. Shanfield
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags at the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg and in Cambria County to be flown at half-staff in honor of Sgt. Derek L. Shanfield, of Hastings.
Sgt. Shanfield, 22, died while supporting combat operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province as part of the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Flags should remain at half-staff through sunset on Friday, June 18.
