Pennsylvania Governor Corbett Signs House, Senate Bills into Law
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett signed the following bills on May 8:
House Bill 469 (P.N. 2756) – This bill amends amend the Practical Nursing Law to provide title protection for licensed registered nurses and licensed practical nurses. Only individuals licensed as registered nurses or practical nurses may use the title "nurse." It also provides for the use of "nurse assistive personnel" for individuals that provide health care services under the direction of a professional or practical nurse.
House Bill 470 (P.N. 2757) – This bill amends the Professional Nursing Law to provide title protection for licensed registered nurses and licensed practical nurses. It also provides for the use of "nurse assistive personnel" for individuals that provide health care services under the direction of a professional or practical nurse.
House Bill 1500 (P.N. 3336) – This bill amends Title 51 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to add a new chapter addressing long-term care patient access to pharmaceuticals through the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (USDVA).
House Bill 1827 (P.N. 2345) – This bill designates the bridge that carries State Route 53 over Clearfield Creek in Irvona Borough, Clearfield County, as the Mary Ellen Tiesi Memorial 9-11 Bridge.
Senate Bill 354 (P.N. 1354) – This bill, known as the REAL ID Nonparticipation Act, prohibits the governor, the Department of Transportation or any other state agency from participating in the federal REAL ID Act of 2005. This legislation grants the governor or the Attorney General with the explicit authority to file an action in court to challenge the constitutionality or legality of the federal REAL ID Act.
Senate Bill 539 (P.N. 545) – This bill amends Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, to provide for grading and penalties relating to driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances where a minor occupying the vehicle commits a misdemeanor of the first degree.
Senate Bill 1141 (P.N. 1909) – This bill amends the act of Nov. 29, 2004 (P.L. 1282, No. 158), known as the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act, to change certain definitions and make other changes related to the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act.
