Penn United Technologies, Inc. Introduces Succession Plan
CABOT, Pa., July 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Penn United Technologies, Inc, a large metal manufacturing solutions provider located in Western Pennsylvania, is excited to announce its management succession plan that began July 1, 2013. Being an employee owned (ESOP) company with Christian values, Penn United's Board of Directors place a high standard in the selection process of leadership personnel. Tenure of employees is also a large factor in consideration and promotion, therefore this plan will extend over several years transitioning internal executives to their new roles while maintaining the strength and success of Penn United's past, preserving it in the present, and leading it into the future.
Under the succession plan, Barry Barton, a 38 year Penn United veteran, will assume the role of Executive Vice President of Manufacturing. He will be transitioning and mentoring both John Lee and Jim Mahan as Vice Presidents of Manufacturing. Jerry Smathers, a 25 year Penn United veteran, will remain the CFO of Penn United while Michael Gore assumes the role as the Director of Finance to transition into the role of CFO upon Jerry Smathers' retirement. Jerry Purcell, a 35 year Penn United veteran, will be assuming the role of Executive Vice President of Sales and Support and will also mentor and transition the new leadership team.
Penn United would like to take the time to thank Barry Barton, Jerry Smathers, and Jerry Purcell for their years of dedicated service and congratulate them on advancement into new Executive Leadership roles. Their institution of a business plan using a diversified market focus along with vertically integrated manufacturing solutions adapted to the needs of their customers has continually driven Penn United to year over year fiscal growth. Through the years they have added to and changed Penn United's manufacturing solutions offering based on customer and market needs laying down a track record of success. Since these officers are planning to retire, a succession plan has been created to transition current Penn United staff to fill their previously held positions. The changes in leadership will span the course of the next four years to insure a strong, smooth transition into the future.
Congratulations goes out to three gentlemen who are currently Penn United employees that will be assuming new leadership roles. Jim Mahan has been with Penn United 8 years and has accept the position of Vice President of Manufacturing. John Lee has been with Penn United 17 years and has accepted the position of Vice President of Manufacturing. Michael Gore has been with Penn United 16 years and has accepted the position of Director of Finance. The company is excited about the dedication and contributions they have made at Penn United in their previous positions and is looking forward to them leading the corporation in their new capacities driving growth for the upcoming years.
