Pelosi and Van Hollen Harm America, Says Senior Rights Activist
BETHESDA, Md., June 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "Congressman Chris Van Hollen of Maryland and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi undermine American values," says gun rights advocate John M. Snyder of Telum Associates.
"Pelosi and Van Hollen endanger freedom of speech by seeking legislative reversal of the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FCC upholding freedom of speech," Snyder added. "Their DISCLOSE bill is a cynical attempt to use government force to control the distribution of opinions before elections. Their recently publicized back room maneuvering on behalf of the bill confirms their cynicism.
"Van Hollen and Pelosi also work to undermine Americans' gun rights by their support of restrictive gun control proposals, such as reinstitution of the Clinton era's failed ban on certain semiautomatic firearms. By trying to upset Americans' gun rights, politicians like Speaker Pelosi and her Maryland assistant aid terrorists and other violent criminals."
"Recent intelligence reports," Snyder stated, "indicate that terrorist groups, frustrated in their attempts to target hardened objectives, are turning their attention to soft targets and plan to use small arms in domestic attacks on Americans. They filter personnel along with other illegal aliens coming into the United States from abroad.
"A law-abiding American citizen must have timely and facile access to the gun he or she may well need to protect life, the lives of others and property from fanatic terrorists hell-bent on destruction. A gun may be used to save lives. Public officials who pursue policies designed to make it difficult or impossible for people to acquire or use a gun undercut the ability of citizens to protect themselves and society from terrorists and other criminals." "Not content to legislate against a citizen's right to get and use a gun to defend life," added Snyder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frmgVbzaJHo), "Pelosi and Van Hollen subvert life itself by promoting legislation undermining the right to life.
"Voters will have an opportunity within five months to vote out of office any Representative responsible for maintaining people like Pelosi and Van Hollen in congressional leadership positions."
A former National Rifle Association editor, Snyder is Public Affairs Director of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. According to Shotgun News, he is the "senior rights activist in Washington."
