AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Peggy Jones clearly and handily won the Wimberley Valley Republican Group's candidate debate held on January 31. Her primary opponent, Bert Cobb, publicly chastised her for missing a debate the previous week, but her response met laudatory applause from the audience when she stated, "My husband has just returned from a year in Afghanistan" and they were attending a military function. The rebuttal inspired loud cheers from the crowd and left Mr. Cobb (temporarily) speechless.

With water ranking as priority in a recent survey of Hays County residents, Jones presented a question to Cobb on "a plan for conservation leadership" and his views on "right of capture." "...what we have to do is realize that I am no messiah," Cobb said, "I don't have any answers to a lot of the problems…"
Although Cobb noted he has few, if any, answers, he appeared surprised that Jones was primed for his question regarding funding for SH45 and RR12. Jones related the specifics on types of funding under consideration and the limitations of the county to make improvements on roads controlled by other agencies.
