Jointly developed by AmCham Libya and Patton Boggs' Middle East and North Africa (MENA) practice group, the event will provide a forum for representatives of government and industry of both countries to discuss public and private sector opportunities for economic development and enhanced trade between the two nations.
The agenda for the day-long seminar focuses on economic development in such key sectors as corporate security, national security and the role of the U.S. defense industry; infrastructure and health care; and market entry regulation, compliance and licensing issues as they relate to Libyan-U.S. business relationships. Registration information and the full agenda can be found at https://libyaindustryday.eventbrite.com.
David E. Dunn, a partner in Patton Boggs' MENA practice group, said, "Libya is the largest oil and gas producer in the Mediterranean, and its people have fought for those riches to be committed to provide them security, decent health care and improved infrastructure and employment opportunity. These subjects will be the focus of presentations by government and business leaders during Libya Industry Day."
Richard H. Griffiths, president of The American Chamber of Commerce in Libya, said, "Our mission is to support the development of trade and economic ties between Libya and the United States. This type of forum encourages dialog that invites US firms to understand the current economic and geo political situation in Libya."
David M. Tafuri, a partner at Patton Boggs who focuses on Libya, stated, "Our firm is honored to co-host this event. We began assisting the National Transitional Council of Libya as their lawyers in the US after the revolution began in 2011. We are proud to continue to work as lawyers and advisors to the Government of Libya during this transition. While Libya faces new challenges, we believe the US private sector can play an important role in helping it overcome those challenges."
Patton Boggs' MENA practice group provides legal and policy advice to sovereign governments, government-owned corporations and private-sector clients requiring corporate and strategic advice for doing business in and throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The firm combines local knowledge with extensive regional experience and proficiency in U.S. and international law and policy, offering clients practical legal guidance for operating in and from the area. "Libya Industry Day" will showcase those strengths and experience.
