Baltimore's Tremonts, the parent company of The Tremont Plaza Hotel, Tremont Grand, Tug's Bar & Grille, Grand Cafe and Plaza Deli in Baltimore, is supporting their Pastry Chef and asking their long-standing customers and fans to cast their votes for Kevin before the March 23, 2010 deadline. Baltimore's Tremonts is putting their money where their mouth is by offering free cookies to customers to prove why Kevin should win Pastry Chef of the Year. "We are very proud of Kevin," said Jennifer Fordham, Marketing Manager of Baltimore's Tremonts. "We want everyone in the community to know what we have known for years, that he is the best."
Kevin Scheuing has been in the industry for over fifteen years and at times, working five jobs at once just so he can gain the most knowledge on different types of cooking. Trained by an eclectic group of Master Chefs (from a monk in San Francisco to a sushi chef in Baltimore), Kevin has acquired a wide variety of skills that combine to create his own innovate style of baking. When asked how sushi chef training is related to making pastries, Kevin said that is how he learned the ability to master extremely intricate designs, for which he is best known. "Baking is an art, not a science," said Scheuing. "I am the happiest in the kitchen being knee and elbow deep in chocolate and cake batter."
Kevin has been with Baltimore's Tremonts for almost three years. "We proudly advertise that all our pastries and desserts served in all our restaurants are made in-house by Kevin," said Fordham. "In a time when so many baked goods are mass produced, we recognize the value of serving our guests and customers a variety of hand made pastries and desserts. From daily-made danishes to intricate and labor-intensive pastries served at weddings at the Tremont Grand, Kevin does it all."
Baltimore's Tremonts is known for legendary customer service and hospitality. The Tremont Plaza Hotel is recognized as a Baltimore landmark serving the community for over 25 years. The Tremont Grand, which is connected to the Plaza hotel, is a restored and renovated historic venue which offers versatile meeting and event space.
