Pam Nicholson, MBA, Healthcare Strategy and Value-Based Care Expert, Joins BDC as Senior Advisor
MIAMI, Jan. 31, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Rick Wesslund, Founder and Chairman of BDC Advisors, LLC, the healthcare strategy firm, announced today that Pam Nicholson, a nationally known healthcare strategy and value-based care expert, who is the former Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy and Health Value Solutions Officer of Denver-based Centura Health, had joined the firm as a Senior Advisor.
Over the past three decades, Nicholson has served in a variety of executive roles with Centura Health, a network of 17 hospitals and 6,000 providers which is the largest healthcare provider in Colorado and Western Kansas. In her leadership role at Centura, Nicholson was responsible for developing a highly successful 10-year enterprise business strategy which raised top line revenue from $1.7 to $3.8 billion, grew inpatient and specialty admissions by 49%, and increased overall statewide inpatient market share by five points. Nicholson was also responsible for the development of a clinically integrated value-based care network in Colorado and Kansas with 4,300 providers serving over 400,000 commercial and Medicare beneficiaries, including a Medicare Shared Savings Plan and Medicare Advantage plans, as well as having led the development of the Colorado Community Health Alliance, a partnership between a physician management company, primary care physicians, and a health system which now serves over 300,000 Medicaid beneficiaries across the state.
Prior to her role as Chief Strategy and Health Value Solutions Officer, Nicholson served in senior leadership roles responsible for advocacy, marketing, communications, direct-to-employer relationships, strategic planning, payer relations, managed care negotiations, and governance.

Nicholson has served on numerous Colorado State Task Forces and Commissions on Health Care Reform, Long-term Care, and Mandated Health Benefits and Insurance for Governors Ritter and Owens. She has chaired the Colorado Hospital Legislative Council, served on the board of community hospitals in Pueblo and Colorado Springs, and currently serves on the Ent Credit Union board. Based in Colorado Springs, Nicholson holds an MBA from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and a BA in finance and organizational development from Idaho State University.
