"Malaysia is a key growth market for Pacnet and receiving the NSP license allows us to move into the next phase of our aggressive growth strategy here," said Bill Barney, Chief Executive Officer of Pacnet. "This will also enable us to deliver additional international connectivity into Malaysia to support its vision of achieving a household broadband penetration rate of 50% by the end of 2010."
Malaysia's household broadband penetration rate has been growing steadily from 10.9 percent in 2006 to 29.2 percent as of the end of the third quarter of 2009, according to figures from the MCMC.
"Enterprises in Malaysia have been demanding dedicated, high bandwidth international connectivity solutions to support their expansion into the region. With the NSP license, we can meet this growing demand by delivering our premium capacity services including our Global International Private Line (IPL) and Global Ethernet IPL (EIPL) services, to businesses and carriers here," said Datin Norhizan Ibrahim, Country Manager, Pacnet Malaysia.
Pacnet's Global IPL and Global EIPL services are delivered through Pacnet's state-of-the-art EAC-C2C subsea cable network that features a self-healing Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) architecture which provides unparalleled reliability and network redundancy. These capacity services will enable businesses to obtain dedicated bandwidth that is delivered with the highest degree of network transparency to allow full control and visibility of their network.
"These new services will provide a greater choice of international connectivity solutions, in addition to our existing range of solutions including IP Transit and our IP VPN service that is offered with five classes of service," added Datin Norhizan.
Besides Internet access and connectivity solutions, Pacnet also offers a full suite of managed and hosted services to small and medium enterprises, multi-national corporations and carriers, in Malaysia.
