PA Liquor Control Board Unveils Android Mobile Application
iPhone App reaches more than 12,000 downloads
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Providing added convenience for busy consumers, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board today launched its latest e-commerce application for Android smartphones.
"Consumers continue to rely on their mobile devices for information while on the go, and we developed both the iPhone and Android applications with the hope of providing them with the help they need, when they need it," said Liquor Control Board Chairman Joseph E. Brion. "We can now give consumers access to an incredible amount of information at the touch of a finger."
Developed solely by PLCB staff, the Android app allows consumers to receive product information, details on sales, locate stores, and shop online.
"The iPhone and Android applications significantly enhance our ability to meet the needs of our customers, providing real time information and updates on products, services and sales available in stores and online," said Board member Patrick J. "PJ" Stapleton. "As technology advances, we'll remain focused on maintaining a growing presence in the digital marketplace."
The Android and iPhone Fine Wine & Good Spirits applications allow users to browse nearly 40,000 products by availability, type or price, as well as see monthly sale items and Chairman's Selection deals. Users can add products to a wish list and by registering can purchase any of the roughly 2,500 products available online. Consumers can also find the closest store and get directions.
Both applications are available for free. Droid users can find the Fine Wine & Good Spirits app on the Android Market, while iPhone users can download the app from the iTunes store. The iPhone app has been downloaded more than 12,200 times since its debut in January. The app also works with the iPad and iTouch devices.
"We're so pleased with the feedback on the iPhone app which has been overwhelmingly positive," said Board member Robert Marcus. "As technology changes, we will continue to look for new ways to meet our customer's needs and exceed their expectations."
