PA Department of Aging Reminds Older Adults of Services Offered by Area Agencies on Aging
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With the recent flooding in parts of the state, Secretary of Aging Brian Duke encouraged older Pennsylvanians to reach out to their local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) if they have experienced a disruption or are in need of services.
AAAs are the local representatives of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. They carry out many programs such as family caregiver support; in-home services; assistance for individuals with finding residential living and domiciliary care; assistance for people living with disabilities; and they offer protective services and legal protection for victims of elder neglect and abuse, along with other services.
In the counties that were affected by the flooding, the AAAs are prepared to handle the immediate and long-term needs of older adults and their families.
