Our America - Broke and Broken: 'Congress Gone Wild - Our Whores on the Shores of the Potomac' Book Exposes PCPs - Professional Career Politicians, Puts Them on 'Trial' and Offers a 3-step Process to Cure America's Woes
ANNAPOLIS, Md., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Author Jim Starnes' recently released book, Congress Gone Wild - Our Whores on the Shores of the Potomac, not only blasts policy makers for excessive and politically oriented spending, but offers a solution. The book is billed as a "do-it-yourself" repair kit on how to restore America in three easy steps.
The home page of the book's website, http://www.Congressgonewild.us, shows Uncle Sam with tattered clothes and empty pockets. He asks, "Buddy, can you spare $12 trillion?" - a takeoff of the 1930s Depression-era song, "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?"
While Starnes began researching his book in 1994, the impetus for actually writing it was President Obama's address to both houses of Congress in February 2009. "It highlighted the many problems of America, most of which result from the handiwork of Congress," said Starnes.
The book's format is unique, following that of a jury "trial." The "crimes" are outlined in a 76-item indictment of congressional mismanagement, waste, fraud, abuse, corruption and political bias. Additional charges include:
- Conflicts of interest
- Special interests and lobbying
- Breach of fiduciary trust, looting the Social Security "Trust" Fund
- Complicity in the recent economic "meltdown"
- Improper handling of the illegal immigrant issue
- Perpetuating increasing medical costs to repay political favors
- Continued dependence upon foreign oil
According to Starnes, the most serious congressional transgression, "The Capitol Offense," relates to America's financial decline through the absence of governmental support of American business and industry ... the ultimate producer of jobs and resultant tax revenues. Starnes provides 97 yes-or-no questions, with the reader's answers leading to an inescapable verdict of "guilty." Starnes' "sentencing" is the removal of one-third of the House and Senate in the November election, effectively putting an end to the "good ol' boys club," and opening the way for new blood and unbiased thought processes in government. At the head of that list he puts Rep. John Dingell, D-MI, who has been reelected 27 times and served in the House of Representatives more than five decades.
His three-step solution is straightforward:
- Read his book and pass it on to five other Americans.
- Review the evidence presented in the book.
- On Nov. 2, in our national election vote against all named incumbents.
Starnes states that the alternative is acceptance of the status quo and more of the same from Congress.
The 253-page book is available in paperback at Amazon.com for $14.95. For more information, visit http://www.congressgonewild.us or http://www.Amazon.com
