OrthoMaryland Welcomes Baltimore-Native Dr. Chad Zooker as Newest Sports Medicine Specialist
BALTIMORE, Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- OrthoMaryland is pleased to welcome Dr. Chad Zooker, a Baltimore-native and sports enthusiast, as the latest addition to its team of orthopaedic physicians.
After years of preparation and training, Dr. Zooker said he was excited to find such a well-respected orthopaedic practice so close to his home and family. "I wasn't always sure of the path I would take, but somehow knew it would eventually lead me back home. During the interview with OrthoMaryland I could literally look out the window and see the streets leading to my families' homes," Dr. Zooker said. "It's a great place to live, and a nice place to raise a family."
Chad graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland College Park with a self created major entitled the Neurobiological Basis of Sports Performance. He then graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine before completing his residency at Union Memorial Hospital. From there he was the recipient of a fellowship for orthopaedic sports medicine from the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
During his fellowship he served as assistant orthopaedic team physician for the Eagles, Phillies, Soul and St. Joseph's University among other teams. Despite this time away for training, he has always been a devoted fan of the Ravens, Orioles and Terps - and is happy to be living back in Pikesville with his wife and two children.
"We're extremely pleased to welcome Dr. Zooker," said OrthoMaryland CEO Heidi Mattingly. "His commitment to the community and his extensive background in sports medicine will make him a great addition to the team."
Zooker, who wrestled and played lacrosse and football in high school, said he chose orthopaedics because of the myriad types of injuries and the potential to help athletes at all levels get back to doing what they love. "I love the challenge of not just getting people back to regular activities, but getting them back to playing their sports," he said.
