ORS-1 Satellite Successfully Launched Aboard a Minotaur 1 Rocket
CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) the prime contractor for the ORS-1 satellite, announced today that the satellite, built under contract to the U.S. Air Force, was successfully launched from Wallops Island Flight Facility at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport aboard an Orbital Sciences Minotaur 1 rocket. After insertion into the correct orbit the satellite will complete on-orbit checkout before transitioning to operational status.
ORS-1 is the first satellite in the Operationally Responsive Space program designed to support combatant command operations and will provide a battlespace awareness capability supporting U.S. Central Command's mission needs.

Goodrich is the lead systems integrator for the ORS-1 satellite. The payload leverages the Goodrich SYERS-2 multispectral sensor, the primary imaging sensor on the U-2 reconnaissance plane. Goodrich is also providing a ground segment that formats the data from the sensor payload to be compatible with the downstream processing, exploitation and dissemination used for the operational SYERS-2 sensor. The ORS-1 spacecraft bus is built for Goodrich by ATK Space Systems and is based on its TacSat-3 bus.
