Opposition MPs Hide Behind Parliamentary Privilege To Slander RMG
TORONTO, March 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - Over the last two weeks, The Responsive Marketing Group Inc.('RMG')'s proud, 21-year reputation for providing voter contact services has come under increasing attack through speculative media reports and accusations in Parliament that are without basis in fact.
RMG has no willingness to engage in a political debate, but once again, we find it necessary to set the record straight. The barrage of recent accusations are as malicious as they are wrong, and are deeply disturbing to our employees and clients.
As has already been confirmed, RMG has provided the Conservative Party of Canada with fundraising, direct voter contact and Get-Out-The-Vote services. These services are provided by our Canadian contact centers exclusively, which employ hundreds of Canadians.
Importantly - again - calls made by RMG on Election Day during last year's federal campaign targeted Conservative supporters only.
Notwithstanding the facts, and our 21 year history of integrity and adherence to the highest professional practices and industry standards, we continue to find ourselves the victims of slander not only by some media willing to perpetrate unsubstantiated claims, but by Liberal and NDP MPs who use Parliamentary Privilege to level false and defamatory claims about RMG that damage our reputation and our business - claims made for the express purpose of undermining a key Conservative Party capability; a capability they lack.
Specifically, Liberal and NDP MPs have taken to knowingly and deliberately misrepresenting RMG's business practices in the House of Commons, by tying past practices of a company that RMG acquired two years ago - Xentel DM Inc., to our current operations, despite the fact that the very issues they refer to occurred before RMG's acquisition of Xentel. This fact was made clear in the original Ottawa Citizen story on the topic on March 2, 2012, yet opposition MP's persist with their attempts to taint RMG by association.
Since our acquisition of Xentel, we have instituted a wholesale reorganization at the company:
- The management team at Xentel was replaced.
- New systems, processes and quality control measures were instituted to bring it in-line with RMG's practices.
- RMG continues to operate as an independent firm.
RMG is proud of its history and the work we do for the Conservative Party of Canada. We believe strongly in the political process and the integrity of the electoral system. It is precisely for this reason that we proactively approached Elections Canada last week to seek an investigation into the allegations that have been made and issues into which RMG has been swept. We have offered Elections Canada full access to our records and to our staff. The sooner we can provide answers to Elections Canada, the sooner we will be exonerated.
In the meantime, we will be uncompromising in standing up our reputation and for the professional services we provide to our clients.
