National Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands Uses OpenText Discovery Platform to Classify and Mobilize Millions of Records
WATERLOO, Ontario, Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenText™ (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in Enterprise Information Management (EIM), today announced that the National Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands has implemented OpenText Discovery Suite to automatically classify and organize non-integrated, unstructured and unmanaged data. Working with OpenText, the National Cultural Heritage Agency can automatically organize millions of historical and architectural documents, creating a repository for academics and Dutch citizens.
The National Cultural Heritage Agency is part of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in the Netherlands. The Agency currently uses OpenText Process Suite and OpenText Content Suite to manage the documents and workflows required when applying for, and granting, permits and subsidies. And, with a national government objective requiring departments to be 100% digitally accessible and available by 2017 for citizens and businesses, the Agency turned to OpenText once again.
"We sought a comprehensive solution to automatically structure multiple terabytes of unstructured data coming from various file systems," said Henk Alkemade, Head e-knowledge Service for the National Cultural Heritage Agency. "Using OpenText, our system now integrates with an open data environment (thesaurus), opening up a wealth of possibilities to discover, use and manage important historical information. OpenText Discovery Suite has enabled us to classify the documents from our file system automatically and make them easily available to everyone."
OpenText Discovery Suite classifies unstructured information automatically, in real time, relieving end-users of the time-consuming requirement to add correct metadata and tags. Information is automatically saved in the right place and in the correct format, making it easy to locate and re-use. OpenText Discovery Suite also integrates the data with other platforms, through which citizens and organizations can digitally access public records, including background information on national monuments and archeology, image databases and articles.
Alkemade added, "Furthermore, by integrating with other platforms that are managed by OpenText, we can offer a compelling search and retrieval service, effectively offering a digital view of the past. Our collaboration with OpenText offers us a complete solution to discover, structure, process, manage and classify information, both within the civil service and to our citizens across the Netherlands."
Discovery Suite supports organizations in developing a transparent and repeatable process to separate valuable content from the valueless to reduce the risk and cost of Big Information.
Discovery Suite is part of OpenText's EIM platform, which enables organizations to discover and manage information to spur growth and innovation across their organization, increasing time to competitive advantage. Consisting of five comprehensive and integrated product suites, making content more accessible, more findable and more productive, Discovery Suite also ensures that the true value of Big Information is captured.
