Open Text Featured in Microsoft Technology Centers for Governance, Risk and Compliance Solutions
Open Text and Microsoft Work Together to Help Customers Improve Compliance, Lower Risk Using Open Text Offerings Integrated with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007/2010
WATERLOO, ON, April 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Open Text (TM) Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the preeminent provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, said today it has been working with Microsoft to showcase its leading ECM solutions for governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) for the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and 2010 platforms at select Microsoft Technology Centers (http://www.microsoft.com/mtc/default.mspx) globally. Open Text and Microsoft experts help enterprise customers plan, build and test regulatory compliance solutions to meet the rapidly shifting regulatory landscape, increasing enforcement requirements, and growing litigation risks and costs.
The Microsoft Technology Centers (MTCs) are collaborative environments in 20 major cities around the world that provide access to innovative technologies and world-class expertise, enabling customers to envision, design, and deploy solutions to meet their needs. These centers offer a complete collection of resources in one place - software, hardware and services, plus Microsoft and partner expertise - and a testing environment where customers can see their desired solutions before deploying them in the enterprise. The goal of the MTCs is to help customers gain maximum value from Microsoft and partner technologies, visualize the fully integrated solution, reduce development time and cut the costs of putting a solution to work.
"Microsoft and Open Text invited us to the Microsoft Technology Center in Reading, UK, where stakeholders from across our various business units were able to better understand the joint capabilities of Microsoft and Open Text," said a senior IT manager from a major UK-based financial services institution. "We were impressed by both the potential and the amount of use cases we can address with both platforms. On a demo system, integrated business scenarios were shown live to us that we are looking to make a reality in our environment now."
Currently, Open Text solutions are installed at MTCs in Munich, New York and London (Reading), and will be rolled out in other select centers worldwide in the coming year. As a strategic partner to Microsoft, Open Text has a highly visible presence at MTCs, showing five regulatory compliance related business scenarios that extend Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007/2010. Scenarios include:
- eDiscovery and Litigation Readiness - Information Lifecycle Management - Electronic Document and Records Management System - Case Management Solutions for SharePoint - SAP Interoperability with SharePoint (later in 2010)
"Participating in Microsoft's Technology Centers is an important evolution of our long-standing partnership with Microsoft," said Brian Donaldson, Vice President, Microsoft Solutions and Ecosystem, Open Text. "Now our mutual customers have a valuable resource for learning how Open Text ECM offerings complement the Microsoft platform and can develop strategies for putting those offerings to work in their organizations to improve regulatory compliance and lower risks."
In addition to the five business scenarios, resources are on hand at the MTCs to help customers in specific industry segments to tailor solutions for their unique content management and compliance needs. These industry segments include financial services, public sector, energy and utilities, and oil and gas.
"Governance, risk management and regulatory compliance are big focus areas for us at Microsoft, as companies face a growing challenge to categorize and manage huge volumes of business-critical information and content," said Sai Sireesh, Director, Governance, Risk Management & Compliance, Microsoft. "Our joint customer engagements with Open Text at MTC comprise strategy briefings, architecture design sessions and proof-of-concept (POC) workshops. Customers really appreciate this joint 'better together' integrated approach to industry compliance scenarios and blueprints."
