NIWOT, Colo., Feb. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Onsemble – a leading independent provider of real-time, hub-height wind data for energy traders, forecasters, system operators, utilities and wind farm investors – is an invited presenter at the Utility Wind Integration Group's "Workshop on Variable Generation Forecasting Applications to Utility Planning and Operations."

The workshop, Feb. 23-24, Albany, N.Y., is co-sponsored by the Utility Wind Integration Group (UWIG) and the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Onsemble Co-Founder and Vice President Anish Parikh is one of six invited participants on the panel, "Value of Met Data from Wind Plants and Off-Site Locations."

Onsemble completed a hub-height wind data network in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Onsemble's Texas network offers real-time, hub-height wind data near 95 percent of the region's wind farms. Onsemble's ERCOT network is the region's first independent source of hub-height wind observations. Hub height is the data-rich area about 80- to 120-meters above ground – the location of Onsemble's sensors, and where wind meets a wind turbine, generating power for the U.S. electrical grid.

Onsemble also operates its real-time data network in the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), the Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCCo.) and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) utility markets.
