One in Four Online Bingo Players Get Social Networking Fix in Forums and Chat Rooms
LONDON, October 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
A recent survey into social networking by the online bingo giant, BingoPort, has revealed that around a quarter of online bingo players don't use any of the popular mainstream social networking sites, which means that games on online bingo sites are their preferred sources of networking on the internet.
It was found that a total of 25.1 per cent of BingoPort users, who represent a significant portion of the UK's online bingo community, don't use any form of social networking at all while, at the opposite end of the spectrum, a staggering 69.9 per cent of players log onto social networking giant Facebook at least once a week. Twitter was the second most frequented social network amongst online bingo players, clocking in at 10.4 per cent.
The newest contender in the social networking sphere, Google+, is used by 6.9 per cent, while MySpace, which was once a leader in social networking, can claim only a 2.7 per cent share of online players. Bebo is not far behind with only 2.5 per cent of users.
The huge percentage of online players that use Facebook sits well above the national percentage, with an estimated 50 per cent of the UK population, as of March 2011, registered on the site. The statistics are based on which sites the users log onto once or more a week on top of their use of BingoPort.com, so many users are clearly fans of Facebook, Twitter and BingoPort at the same time.
A spokesperson for BingoPort commented on the findings: "We were quite surprised that such a large number of online bingo players don't use any of the popular social networking sites but that just goes to show that they get their social fix right here with us.
"Bingo is one of the best ways on the internet to mix with like-minded people and have lots of fun at the same time. It's a great way to meet new bingo fans and friends with free bingo and slot machines on offer around the clock.
"Many people obviously still socialise pretty frequently on the biggest social networking sites on the net, but a significant number are getting just what they need and want at BingoPort. The bingo banter that goes on during the games is unrivalled on the bigger social networks.
"Since bingo is undoubtedly one of the most social games around, there's no better place for the online community to experience the freedom and shenanigans of social networking sites and the frantic buzz of online bingo all at once."
