The Process Knowledge Initiative is a collaborative industry and academic endeavor with the sole purpose of creating an open source body of knowledge on process management. The resultant Process Knowledge BoK (PKBoK) will be the go-to information source for process management professionals, academics and industry technology and service providers. More information may be found online at http://www.processknowledge.org.
In addition to chairing the BMI Task Force, Fred is also the Business Systems Architect, Agile Enterprise Design, and a Former HP Fellow. Fred joins other industry luminaries just announced as participants on the Technical Integration Team. Other groups announced include the Methodology Advisory Board and Technical Advisory Board. The Technical Integration Team is responsible for establishing the PKBoK blueprint (scope, knowledge areas, ontology, content templates), recruiting working group leaders, and coordinating content development, publication and review.
"Business-focused practitioners need a consistent body of knowledge as the practice becomes more widely adopted. While there's plenty of concentrated knowledge on the technical end of BPM, it's time to do the same for the business focus," said Fred Cummins, Business Systems Architect, Agile Enterprise Design and Chair, OMG's BMI Task Force. "I look forward to contributing, with my colleagues on the Technical Integration Team, to the advancement of the field.
"OMG's suite of BPM technology standards including BPMN™, BPMM, and BMM provide business process practitioners with the tools they need to achieve real-world insights into the business. OMG's Business Ecology® Initiative (BEI) is a powerful community of business-focused BPM practitioners and companies that share best practices and fresh ideas to optimize their processes to support innovation," said Richard Mark Soley, Ph.D., chairman & CEO, OMG. "Our focus on business optimization through standards and through our advocacy groups, and our reason to partner in the Process Knowledge Initiative is to keep it business-focused and reality-based."
The Process Knowledge Initiative notes that there are open Technical Advisory Board positions and are seeking Lean/Six Sigma experts. To nominate a Lean/Six Sigma Technical Expert, please contact Brenda Michelson at [email protected].
