Olympus Announces Launch of Retooled GI Benchmarking Product
Company Offers Complimentary Subscriptions for Qualified GI Facilities Nationwide
CENTER VALLEY, Pa., April 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Olympus, a global technology leader in designing and delivering innovative solutions for medical and surgical procedures, announced today the launch of its enhanced Olympus GI Benchmarking product.
Olympus served a pioneering role in developing GI-specific metrics for the industry in 2005. After collecting a decade's worth of data, Olympus invested with an industry-leading authority on data management and strategic design to retool and customize the GI Benchmarking product. Olympus is offering complimentary subscriptions (a $495 value) to the new product to qualified GI facilities. To qualify for the complimentary subscription, enrolled facilities must participate in data submission. For more details, visit https://benchmarking.olympusamerica.com.
"GI endoscopy centers are commonly performing repetitive services where real gains can be achieved by focusing on efficiency," said Amanda Bruemmer, RN, BSN, Benchmarking Services Manager for Olympus' Medical Systems Group. "Operational metrics such as length of stay, procedural costs, reportable events, and type and amount of equipment can help facility managers know how they stack up against peer facilities and pinpoint areas for improvement."
While GI Benchmarking has a facility-based quality data component, it is meant as an adjunct to, rather than a replacement for, current procedural-based quality data facilities already gather for reporting, reimbursement and accreditation. It can help facilities view reportable events as part of the bigger operational picture, including falls, hospital transfers, perforations, infections or changes in sedation.
Olympus GI Benchmarking also helps GI facilities address the key requirements of healthcare reform by using comparative data to improve quality of care, decrease costs and enhance patient satisfaction.
Olympus GI Benchmarking will be showcased at DDW 2016 (May 21-24, Booth #1227) in San Diego, Calif. as well as the SGNA 43rd Annual Course (May 22-24, Booth #67) in Seattle, Wash. Healthcare providers are invited to visit Olympus at either of these events for a product demonstration.
