CORONADO ISLAND, Calif., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Olympic Games Gold Medalist Joey Cheek today announced the launch of Dreams of Gold Weekend, an interactive learning initiative designed to link families of aspiring elite athletes ages 12 – 18 with the world class experts and information required to navigate competition and life.

Dreams of Gold Weekend is a groundbreaking high-activity and high-learning approach to prepare gifted young athletes and their families for a future in world-class competitive sports. The two day session provides participants with essential tools for navigating the challenges associated with athletic success, ranging from leadership skills and goal-setting for the young athlete, nutrition and health planning for parent and child and agent and media relations for parents.

Dreams of Gold Weekend will be held at the Hotel del Coronado on February 11-13, 2011. The Dreams of Gold Weekend fee provides hotel lodging for two people (double room), conference attendance and group meals. Future Dreams of Gold Weekends are being planned for other U.S. cities.

Content and programming is developed by athletes who have achieved the ultimate success along with the experts they rely upon for every aspect of their preparation.
