The agenda, which spans two days of workshops and case studies, includes a session on cloud computing, a legal issues presentation from DLA Piper's Mark Radcliffe, a business model workshop featuring SAP Venture's Jai Das and a governance best practices workshop. The AOL case study will examine two planned, related open source initiatives: employing open source technologies and practices to improve the innovation and efficiency of AOL developers, and releasing elements of AOL's software portfolio as open source to enrich the company's ability to deliver content and encourage community contributions. The Think Tank audience will have the opportunity to delve into a sophisticated real-world case study with implications not only for AOL but many of today's technology suppliers and enterprise IT users. The interactive format will allow participants from the open source and cloud ecosystems to openly share concerns, issues, experiences, and common problems while collaboratively developing solutions.
"Sponsoring the Open Source Think Tank and being part of its collaborative dialogue gives us an opportunity to understand the interoperability challenges customers face across mixed source environments, whether on-premise or in the Cloud, and to explore opportunities working with leaders of the open source community to jointly address such issues," said Ted MacLean, general manager of Open Solutions Group at Microsoft.
This year's Spring Open Source Think Tank will be held April 7-9, 2011 at The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma, CA.
