RAVENNA, Ohio, May 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Allen Aircraft Products, Inc. is pleased to announce it is joining forces with The Boeing Company as part of its nationwide team to bid for the U.S. Air Force's new fleet of aerial refueling tankers.
As a proud member of Boeing's United States Tanker team, Allen Aircraft Products, Inc. will become eligible to increase orders if Boeing is awarded the U.S. Air Force tanker contract in 2010. Based in Ravenna, Allen Aircraft is an industry leader in the production of aircraft fluid system components and metal finishing processing.
"We know the importance of building state-of-the-art manufacturing parts and equipment that will help our men and women in the Armed Forces carry out their mission successfully," said Neil Mann, Jr. President, Allen Aircraft Products, Inc. "We have been long-standing partners of Boeing on both their military and commercial aircraft for many years and are honored to represent Ohio's manufacturing industry in the American aerial refueling tanker team. Our participation will bring much needed economic growth and employment to our state and our community."
"Northeastern Ohio has a long and storied history of outstanding manufacturers," said Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-17). "And though our regional economy has undergone major changes in the 63 years since Allen Aircraft was founded, their leadership, vision, and determination has provided the versatility necessary to create and maintain sustainable, good-paying jobs for our residents. Their recent contract with The Boeing Company only underscores their success, and we are fortunate to have them within Ohio's 17th District."
Through a network of well-recognized local Ohio suppliers, close to 700 jobs and an estimated $33 million in annual revenues would be generated as a result of Boeing's potential winning tanker bid. Currently, Boeing has 636 employees in Ohio and works with 500 suppliers/vendors, delivering a total $4.7 billion in annual economic impact. If Boeing is awarded the contract, it would support approximately 50,000 total jobs and 800 suppliers across the United States.
Allen Aircraft will join Voss Industries, Achilles Aerospace Products and several other well-respected Ohio suppliers in helping Boeing deliver an American-designed and -built, combat-ready tanker featuring max capability at lowest cost.
