Nukote Announces Expansion of Pennsylvania Manufacturing Plant

DALLAS, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Nukote Inc., a producer of toner and environmentally friendly print cartridges, has announced an expansion of its manufacturing plant in Connellsville, PA.  

The expansion will make Nukote's U.S. plant the first fully-integrated laser toner print cartridge remanufacturing center in the United States.  At the facility, Nukote will collect and process empty print cartridges, manufacture toner, remanufacture cartridges and distribute them to resellers nationwide.  The Connellsville plant will become Nukote's main manufacturing facility.

Nukote's Connellsville plant has been in operation since 1978, manufacturing patented laser toner formulations as ICMI, a Nukote subsidiary.

Nukote's headquarters are in Dallas, Texas.  The company has strong Pennsylvania roots -- Nukote's chairman, John Rochon, is a native of Pennsylvania, as are several of its senior executives.

"With our production center here in the United States, and doing everything under one roof from making toner right through to shipping the end product, we will be able to serve our customers more efficiently," said Mr. Rochon.  

"During the past six months we looked at lots of possible locations for our production center.  In the end, we decided to 'come home' to Pennsylvania," said Mr. Rochon.  "We have great respect for the loyalty and skill of the workers in Western Pennsylvania.  It's gratifying for us to be able to create jobs for men and women here in the United States."

Mr. Rochon said Nukote has reached agreement with the United Steelworkers Union on a contract for the enlarged workforce.  

"Nukote's expansion here is a real economic boost to Southwestern Pennsylvania.  We are thrilled that Nukote has chosen to take this step," said Pennsylvania State Senator Richard Kasunic, in whose district the Nukote facility is located.

Mr. Rochon thanked Senator Kasunic for his support of Nukote's efforts to keep jobs in the area.  "Senator Kasunic has been very supportive and helpful to us and that is one of the reasons we are bringing these jobs to Connellsville," said Mr. Rochon.
