Noya Fields Family Announces Grant to Grist Fellowship Program
NEW YORK, March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Noya Fields Family group of charitable funds (www.noyafieldsfamily.org) is honored to announce its first grant for the 2017 year to Grist in support of its fellowship program. The grant funds the work of Vishakha Darbha who joins Grist as their first video fellow this spring.
"This is an incredibly exciting opportunity where we get to simultaneously support the environment and journalism," Ken Fields said. "With the current administration in Washington we feel very strongly that now more than ever the environmental movement needs greater support to educate the public and continually broadcast its message. Nikki and I have been long time fans of Grist and think they take an insightful and easily accessible approach to the very serious environmental issues concerning all of us and we look forward to their expansion into video and multimedia."
Grist is a nonprofit news organization and ideas platform for people who want a planet that doesn't burn and a future that doesn't suck. Founded in 1999, Grist elevates solutions, exposes inequity, and gives readers the knowledge and tools to make a difference. Its ideas platform, The Front @Grist, brings together a surprising network of promising green innovators and influencers to spur conversations and collaborations. (www.grist.org)
Grist's fellowship program trains some of the nation's leading young journalists in order to create a new generation of climate and sustainability storytellers. The program provides hands-on experience at a national media outlet, mentoring from senior staff, and learning opportunities with leading industry experts. Grist supports graduating fellows as they transfer the skills they learn to other organizations and outlets.
The Noya Fields Family group of charitable funds support through direct grants and strategic partnerships a wide range of philanthropic endeavors focusing generally, but by no means exclusively, on the environment, basic human civil liberties, education and the arts.
