North Star Group Joins RTCA and NCOIC

WASHINGTON, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The North Star Group today announced its continued growth in supporting the FAA's NextGen effort with our membership in two prestigious science and consensus based organizations, the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC) and RTCA.  

NCOIC was formed in August 2004 and is a unique collaboration of premier leaders in the aerospace, defense, information technology, large-scale integrator and services industries.  Through close collaboration with government and industry players, the NCOIC is a resource for scientists, engineers and software developers working on the transformation to network centric operations. The primary goals of the NCOIC are to adopt common open standards, share best practices and processes and encourage collaboration, enabling industry to develop compatible products that will help customers achieve greater efficiency.

Organized in 1935 as the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics, RTCA is a private, not-for-profit corporation that develops consensus-based recommendations regarding communications, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management system issues. RTCA functions as a Federal Advisory Committee. Its recommendations are used by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as the basis for policy, program, and regulatory decisions and by the private sector as the basis for development, investment and key business decisions.  More than 400 government, industry and academic organizations from the United States and around the world are currently members of RTCA.
