North Carolina Eminent Domain Law Firm Now Discussing Cases with Property Owners Affected by Kerr Avenue Road Widening in Wilmington, NC

WILMINGTON, N.C., Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The North Carolina Department of Transportation is contacting property owners who will be affected by a road widening planned for North and South Kerr Avenue between Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Patrick Avenue in Wilmington, North Carolina. The project will widen the road to include four lanes of travel, bicycle lanes, a landscaped median, and sidewalks. Construction for the project, coded U-3338B by the N.C. DOT, is scheduled to begin in May 2013.

The department of transportation is currently negotiating to acquire right-of-way from the properties that will be affected by the widening. The budget for right-of-way acquisitions is $22.5 million, and individual property owners are likely to receive a small fraction of this money.
