Nonprofit Colleges Online Releases New "Students Before Profits Award" Ranking of Online MBA Programs: Unique Award Honors Top Online Schools Putting "Education Before the Bottom Line"
RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Nonprofit Colleges Online, an online publication promoting non-profit colleges and universities that offer online degree programs in a variety of academic disciplines, has released its 2015 ranking of online MBA programs. The ranking, which can be viewed at http://www.nonprofitcollegesonline.com/rankings/best-online-mba-programs/, is part of the website's "Students before Profits Award" series. The series of awards for programs in a variety of disciplines aims to bring attention to nonprofit institutions that offer quality online programs with a track record of "putting students before profits and education before the bottom line." The idea is to help counteract the negative reputation of online education created by the exploitative practices of several for-profit online education companies.
To qualify for a "Students before Profits Award" a program must be non-profit, regionally accredited, and affordable. Leading off the online MBA award winners is Amberton University of Garland, Texas, with an estimated tuition cost of $8,712 for approximately two years of full-time, out-of-state tuition. Columbia College of Missouri and Mississippi State University come in second and third respectively, with total tuition rates under $13,000.

"The job outlook for business schools graduates is looking up, and, perhaps consequently, a growing number of students are considering M.B.A. programs after spending time working in the field," writes Liz Robertson, lead editor for the piece. "M.B.A. programs are considered a valuable means to an end, intended to help employees advance their careers and contribute significantly to their respective workplaces. The networking students do in M.B.A. programs is invaluable to their professional lives; friendships made in a competitive graduate school will likely serve as beneficial professional relationships throughout one's career. With so many accelerated programs available to the non-traditional, modern student - including online, distance programs - and the increasingly relevant and growing global economy, there has never been a more convenient, opportune time to apply for admission to an M.B.A. program. Not only do graduates commonly receive the benefit of a bigger paycheck after they re-enter the workforce, they also get the chance to reinvent themselves and refocus academically. Currently, students are able to choose from a myriad of concentrations including finance, accounting, marketing, international business, financial management, computer information systems, healthcare, executive management, logistics, social media analytics, leadership studies, tourism and hospitality management, sustainability and environmental compliance, justice studies, supply chain management, entrepreneurship, and more. Additionally, students will commonly interact with and be challenged by professors who have extensive professional experience and success in their personal fields. Because the economy is progressively more globally-involved, students need to be challenged to think outside the box of their local business environments, and a respected M.B.A. program will help them do just that."
