Brett Gershon, editor of Nonprofit Colleges Online, says that "occupational therapy is one of the fastest growing health professions, accounting for the greatest increase in Medicare spending in the last decade." Gershon goes on to say that like physical therapy, "OT work increasingly demands a doctoral education of the highest-level practitioners in the field." Many OT practitioners are seeking to further their education at the doctoral level and many more will need to follow suit in the coming years to remain competitive. This ranking should prove to be a valuable resource for OT professionals who want to locate a cost-effective and flexible program.
