HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is accepting nominations for six open positions on the 2016 Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee, DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn announced today.
The advisory committee is charged with implementing recommendations of the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan to develop a statewide land and water trail network to facilitate recreation, transportation, and healthy lifestyles. The 20-member DCNR-appointed committee represents both motorized and non-motorized trail users and advises the commonwealth on the use of state and federal trail funding.
"Pennsylvania has a wealth of incredible trails for all outdoors pursuits and we are hoping to tap that pool of trail supporters who keep Pennsylvania at the forefront of quality trail activities," Dunn said. "We are seeking a solid representation of these interests as we form the new Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee for the coming year."
DCNR is accepting nominations for six open positions on the committee representing the following user groups: bicycling; trail builders; off-highway motorcycling; hiking, and member-at-large (2). Members will serve for three years starting Jan. 1, 2016.
Nominations are due by Nov. 6, and must be submitted on the DCNR website at http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/brc/recreation/trails/patrailsadvisory/.
