Industry and education converge to transform learning in New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., April 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Education and technology industry leaders from across the United States will join forces this week to support innovation in education at Innovate-Educate / New Mexico ISTE Conference 2010 this Thursday and Friday at the Marriott Pyramid in Albuquerque, N.M.
Jamai Blivin, executive director of Innovate-Educate, the parent organization to Innovate-Educate New Mexico (IENM), said there is a critical need for private-sector leadership in education adding that at the core of economic development is education – success of the teacher and the student to deliver and receive a high-quality education to prepare them for the global innovation economy and jobs that may not even yet exist.
"This conference serves as a catalyst to position 21st century skills at the center of P-20 education by building strong collaborations and challenging companies to get engaged in ways that harness their core competencies," explained Blivin. "The tremendous numbers of teachers and leaders attending this conference in such tough economic times shows their dedication for technology in education, transformation, and sharing their success in the classroom."
Representatives from the world's top IT companies have joined the Innovate-Educate Board of Directors over the last year and have been working diligently to provide a framework for how to prepare students in today's global economy. This annual event provides two days of dynamic collaboration that brings these leaders together to work with other state and national visionaries to continue creating a national movement supporting that vision.
The goal is to engage industry, education, and government to coordinate existing efforts and collaborate on new ideas that better engage students in the classroom.
