Nippon Cargo Airlines Announces New Freighter Service from DFW International Airport to Tokyo-Narita
NCA to provide first Asian trade route through Japan for DFW
DFW AIRPORT, Texas, Oct. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) has announced it will launch new freighter flights connecting Tokyo's Narita International Airport and DFW International Airport, starting November 5. Nippon Cargo's twice weekly flights will be the first direct freighter connections for the Dallas/Fort Worth area into Japan, and will bolster DFW cargo lift capacity to Asia while also providing a new connection to a strategically important destination.
"We are extremely pleased to open new avenues of trade from Texas to Japan, so this marks a big day for us," said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW International Airport. "Opening more routes between Texas and Asia provides an excellent opportunity for regional businesses to ship goods quickly."
Nippon Cargo Airlines will operate the route from Narita to Chicago O'Hare, then to DFW Airport, Anchorage, Alaska, and then back to Narita. Nippon Cargo Airlines will fly 747-400 aircraft on the route, and the carrier ultimately plans to phase-in 747-8's, the most fuel-efficient planes in the industry.
"We're excited about coming into the DFW market," said Dave McInerney, senior manager of sales/USA, South, Alaska and Canada. "With offices already in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, Dallas/Fort Worth marks the next logical step for the growth of Nippon Cargo Airlines in the United States."
The expansion of cargo service is often a leading indicator of economic growth. Japan is already a fast-growing economy, and connecting with Dallas/Fort Worth, the fastest growing region in United States, sets the stage for more growth in both regions.
"DFW's commitment to growing its cargo portfolio is paying off with service such as this," said Luis Perez, vice president for air service development at DFW. "Our mission is to bring more air service to the citizens of Dallas/Fort Worth, which brings more economic opportunity, jobs and growth to our region."
