Ninja Kiwi® Acquires Bloons® Mobile Developer Digital Goldfish®
Hit Games Studios Combine Forces To Accelerate Ninja Kiwi's Mobile and Tablet Strategy
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Nov. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- New Zealand-based games company Ninja Kiwi announced today that it has acquired Scottish game developers Digital Goldfish for an undisclosed sum. Digital Goldfish's 15-person studio will remain in Dundee, Scotland under the management of co-founders David Hamilton and Barry Petrie, and the team will focus on expanding Ninja Kiwi's reach on mobile platforms. In conjunction, Ninja Kiwi has also announced that smash hit Bloons TD 5 will be released for Apple mobile devices this November.
Digital Goldfish has worked closely with Ninja Kiwi for several years, developing the mobile versions of hit games Bloons and Bloons TD. Previously published under Digital Goldfish's name on mobile, those games have seen over 8 million downloads. Going forward, all games will be published under the Ninja Kiwi label, the first of which will be Bloons TD 5.
"The Digital Goldfish guys have been great partners for us and have great depth of skill in mobile games development," said Chris Harris, Co-Founder of Ninja Kiwi. "As we continue to build our mobile games reach, joining forces with the Digital Goldfish team is just awesome. Blending their mobile expertise with our IP and player base has worked really well for us to date, so this acquisition is strategically very strong for us."
"What started as a simple license deal developed into the perfect partnership," said Barry Petrie, Co-Founder of Digital Goldfish. "We have collaborated on several successful titles together and racked up millions of downloads in the process. This deal made absolute sense for both parties and was a natural progressive step in the relationship between the two companies. We are delighted to become part of the Ninja Kiwi family and are excited for the future as we look to bring existing and new Ninja Kiwi IP to a variety of platforms."
