NINGBO, China, Dec. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On December 14th, the 6th Asian City Forum, an event whose prime purpose is to focus on the development of meaningful entertainment and leisure facilities in urban settings, kicked off in the beautiful seaside city of Ningbo, China. Attendees who came from around the world gathered together at the event and engaged in wide-ranging discussions touching on the changes in leisure habits in China and among Chinese worldwide, the building of an entertainment and leisure culture, the establishment of a brand for the city of Ningbo and development trends across the leisure and entertainment sector.
The Forum was co-sponsored by the Asian City Association, Communication University of China, Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town Holding Co., Ltd., China Vanke Co., Ltd., Ningbo Overseas Chinese Town Holding Co., Ltd. (Ningbo OCT), Ningbo Vanke Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., Sifangde (Beijing) International Entertainment Media Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen OCT Media Advertising Co., Ltd.
The forum included a keynote speech, a series of topical discussions and roundtable meetings as well as the press release of Ningbo Leisure & Entertainment Declaration 2015. The participants, which included experts from across the entire spectrum of leisure and entertainment activities, widely agreed that leisure time will become more and more of an essential component of daily life. The time allocated to leisure activities can promote the spiritual and cultural significance of human life, help to develop new consumption habits, change people's attitudes towards what it means to be wealthy while raising the degree of happiness and comfort across the population at large. At the same time, the entertainment industry including the leisure segment will become the engine that drives urban economic development as well as a key indicator of the overall economic strength of a city.
The shift in China's economic development model has prompted the traditional urban tourism destination to transform itself into a comprehensive destination for leisure and entertainment. The promotion and construction of urban recreational facilities will become a critical component of what needs to go into any future urban planning. As the venue for the forum, Ningbo is already on the way to becoming a pioneer in the development of a true leisure and entertainment destination. In 2015, Ningbo OCT chose Ningbo as the location for their two new entertainment and leisure concepts, OCT Harbour and Simingshan Valley. As a leader in China's entertainment sector, the Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) group has been, for the last 30 years, a leading change agent in the Chinese standard of living through its high quality projects and a key driver in the development of China's urban leisure and entertainment industry. Today, OCT is creating a series of facilities in Ningbo that can serve as a model for similar such projects in China as well as promote the advantages of a life spent in a coastal city such as Ningbo.
Since 2008, the Asian City Forum has consecutively been held in Beijing, Changchun, Chengdu, Wuhan and Liangshan (South Korea), and has become an influential event with international visibility. The selection of Ningbo as the venue for the 6th Asian City Forum where many of the top experts in the entertainment and leisure industries gathered to share their thoughts and look forward to what the future portends, went a long way in meeting the city's goal of becoming China's premier destination not only for tourism but also for all manner of leisure and entertainment.
