Nickelodeon's 3Q13 Performance Nabs Its Highest Quarterly Gains in 16 Years
New Series Sam & Cat, The Haunted Hathaways, Sanjay & Craig and Paw Patrol Fuel Net's Growth
Nick at Nite Ranks as Cable's Top Net with Women 18-49, Posts Double-Digit Gains With A18-49 and Total Viewers for 3Q13
NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- With a new slate of series joining its lineup this summer, Nickelodeon continued fueling its ratings momentum, closing 3Q13 with its best quarterly year-over-year performance with K2-11 in 16 years (2Q97). Nick posted double-digit gains with K2-11 (up 12% for the quarter over last year) and with Kids 2-5 (+32%). With total viewers, the net is up +6%. For the year to date, Nickelodeon is up +8% with K2-11 and +6% with total viewers.
Nickelodeon's quarterly performance was bolstered by the net's new roster of animation and live-action hits. Sam & Cat, which debuted earlier this summer, is a bona fide hit averaging 2.9 million total viewers and up +17% over last year. The Haunted Hathaways, which is growing weekly and averaging 2.4 million total viewers, posted double-digit year over year increases with Kids 6-11 (+12%) with its latest new episode (Saturday, Sept. 28 at 8:30 p.m.). Nickelodeon's new animated hit Sanjay & Craig currently averages 2.9 million total viewers. Additionally, Nickelodeon's latest preschool offering, Paw Patrol, ranks as the net's top preschool series, averaging a 5.8/783K Kids 2-5. The series consistently wins its time period with Kids 2-5 and is a ratings driver for the net's top-rated preschool block (M-F 8:30 a.m.-2p.m. ET/PT), which is up +24% with Kids 2-5 for 3Q13.
Nick at Nite closed third quarter as basic cable's top net with Women 18-49 and posted strong double-digit gains, up +67% with A18-49 and +29% with total viewers. The net's ratings growth was driven by performances from its late-night lineup and new original live-action offerings, including Instant Mom, which premiered on Sept. 29 (8:30 p.m. ET/PT) and posted double-digit gains for, up +12% in delivery with Adults 18-49 and up +18% in rating with K6-11.
