Nicholas Behunin Files Anti-SLAPP Motion Against Charles Schwab

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Nicholas Behunin filed an Anti-SLAPP motion against Charles Schwab. The Anti-SLAPP is being filed in response to the defamation lawsuit filed by Charles Schwab in order to silence Behunin and keep damaging evidence out of the public eye. Schwab's Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) was filed on October 30, 2014 with the sole purpose of shutting down Behunin's website, Chuck-You.com.

The lawsuit alleges that Behunin made false statements regarding Charles Schwab's relationship with the Suharto Family of Indonesia. According to the October 30, 2014 press release issued by Charles Schwab's legal counsel, the website Chuck-You.com highlights that "Schwab sought to do business with the family of the late Indonesian Dictator Suharto and his son Tommy Suharto, a convicted murderer."

To substantiate the statements contained on the website, Behunin has filed an Anti-SLAPP motion that contains a large body of evidence such as videos, photographs with geo-tags, emails, social media content, and signed agreements, which tie Charles Schwab's international investment business dealings directly to the Suharto Family. 

"The claims made on Chuck-You.com are completely substantiated and well documented. I'm simply employing my right to free speech in order to highlight the hypocrisy of Charles Schwab as a public figure who trades on ethics, trust, and accountability, but seeks to profit from the family of a brutal dictator. His standing in the community makes this a matter of public interest," said Behunin, founder of Chuck-You.com. "I have faith that the American judicial system will protect my constitutional rights and uphold the First Amendment."
