New York State Office For People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) Selects Foothold Technology To Support Its Statewide Services

NEW YORK, April 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Foothold Technology announces it has been selected to support the state-run residential, clinical and day services systems managed by the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). With the new relationship, Foothold's electronic record and intellectual and developmental disabilities software, AWARDS, will be used initially to support more than 38,000 individuals who receive OPWDD provided services.

OPWDD operates as a direct service provider and oversees and monitors services delivered by an extensive network of more than 750 nonprofit service providers throughout the state. More than 130,000 New Yorkers are served by either state-operated, voluntary, or a combined public/private service system. In an effort to move from a primarily paper-intensive record keeping system to a web-based platform, OPWDD selected Foothold's software, AWARDS, because of its ability to serve the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Also Federally certified as meeting Meaningful Use standards, AWARDS will support the documentation needs in various settings in which OPWDD services are provided, including private homes, family care-certified private homes, supervised community residences, individualized residential alternative (IRA) settings, intermediate care facilities (ICFs), Article 16 clinics, and in day habilitation settings. AWARDS is also used by providers to meet and demonstrate compliance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) final rule for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS).
