Mildred Elley - One of the Nation's Premier Career Colleges - to Offer Degrees & Certificate Programs in the High-Demand, Recession-Proof Field of Health Care
NEW YORK, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Mildred Elley, one of the nation's most respected and successful two-year career colleges, announced that it has opened a new 42,000 square-foot branch campus in lower Manhattan. Located at 25 Broadway, the new Mildred Elley New York City Metro campus offers career-oriented health sciences and nursing programs in the high-demand, "recession-proof" health care industry.
With affiliation agreements with major New York City metro-area medical centers and flexible scheduling and financial aid available for those who qualify, the campus provides a quality career education to a diverse student body. Mildred Elley is headquartered in Albany, New York.
The new campus offers an Associates Degree in Occupational Studies for Medical Assistants and Certificate Programs for practical nurses, clinical medical assistants and medical office assistants. Classes begin on May 24, 2010.
"For more than 90 years, Mildred Elley has provided thousands of women and men with the academic foundation to build successful careers," said Faith A. Takes, president of Mildred Elley. "Today, as the demand for qualified health care professionals continues to skyrocket, we are proud to offer quality education in health sciences and nursing and a proven-effective curriculum that provides a career mobility ladder."
Takes noted that Mildred Elley's overall health care related job placement rate is over 80%, ranging from 80% for a clinical medical assistant to 100% for a medical office assistant at its Albany location.
The campus has signed formal clinical affiliation/cooperative education agreements with five nursing and rehabilitation care centers and three acute care hospitals that expect to host the institution's students for clinical rotations.
Mildred Elley prepares graduates for entry-level employment and for advancement into both two-year and four-year programs. The programs share a core in human biology, medical terminology, liberal arts, information and digital literacy, and student success and career preparation skills. The Practical Nursing Certificate program incorporates additional didactic, lab, and clinical rotation coursework in long-term care, maternal and pediatric nursing, medical and surgical nursing, pharmacology, and medication administration.
Harry L. Krausman, Managing Director and Principal at Cassidy Turley, represented Empire Education Corporation, the Albany-based parent company of Mildred Elley, in the real estate transaction.
“After an exhaustive search in both midtown and downtown Manhattan, we found the right building for the Mildred Elley School. The landlord was very cooperative and receptive to having them as a long term tenant in 25 Broadway,” said Mr. Krausman.
