New Study Reveals U.S. Women are the 'World's Least Flirty' - Women of Spain Top the List!

NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- American women are among the "least flirtatious" in the world, according to a global study of online flirting, published today. Only women in Ecuador flirt less, while even those Canada flirt far more.

Spanish women are the world's greatest online flirters, reveals the study, which was conducted by Badoo.com, (www.badoo.com), a social networking site for meeting new people, used in 240 countries and 18 languages.

Spanish women are over twice as likely as American women to "make the first move" with the opposite sex, according to Badoo's analysis of over 90 million contacts made on the site.

While Spain tops Badoo's "World Flirtation League" table, next come Poland, the Dominican Republic, Italy and Argentina. Latin countries (speaking Spanish, Italian or Portuguese) occupy eight of the top 10 places.

Ecuador edges out the U.S. for last place, and least flirtatious, by the tiniest margin – a mere 0.1 – with the average American woman initiating contact with 0.63 men per month, versus 0.62 by her counterpart in Ecuador.

"Most of us probably still expect men to make the first approach," says Lloyd Price, Director of Marketing for Badoo, which boasts over 80 million registered users. "But we wanted to know whether women in some countries were more likely to take the lead than those in others – and what this said about those societies."

Canada is the only English-speaking country to make the top ten, coming in at ninth place. The study finds women in Anglo-Saxon countries are generally far less flirtatious than those in Latin ones.

* Explanation: "Score" means the number of female-to-male contacts per month initiated by the average woman in that country. For example, Spain's score of 1.33 means the average Spanish woman initiates 1.33 contacts with a man per month.
